Style
For business stick with the Classics like Solids, Paisley and Stripes neck ties. Save the novelties and more Flamboyant ties for leisure and personal events.
Weight
How thick is the necktie? The thicker the tie, the larger the knot will be, so keep this is mind before purchasing. Woven neckties are normally heavier and thicker than printed ones. They contain more Silk and as a result tend to drape well, and cost more
The thickness of the tie is determined by the amount of silk used, as well as the lining. The heavier the better. Wool linings are usually heavier than the poly/cotton blends. The wool linings are also better in the long run as they will retain and regain their original shape with ease. A necktie with NO liner is best. These are normally referred to as 5,6 or 7 fold neckties. Their construction is 100% silk and they are the most expensive.
Texture
Woven Ties are the best for showing depth and texture. Depending on the weave, the Texture could be small and detailed or Larger and with less detail using a thicker type of weave.
Thick Silk woven in rows is known as "repp". "Repp" weave is normally used in conjunction with a Stripe Pattern. You can find repp designer ties in our store by tying in "woven stripe neckties" in the search box.
Printed ties normally have a light surface texture which gives the necktie its Luster or Sheen. Though they are also woven, the weave is so tight and small that it is smooth in appearance.
These are just a few things to consider when purchasing Men's Ties. In the end pick something that feels good when you look in the mirror. In today's society, the world is accepting of most every individual style, so wear what feels good. I will be adding to this section periodically so check back.........
